The Creative Exchange

The Creative Exchange is an awesome swap dreamed up by Dunne With Style. Everyone interested gets paired up with a partner and sends their partner a package filled with supplies to encourage and inspire creativity. Below is the wrapped parcel I sent out to my partner topped with handmade watercolor paper bows.

Hey Ya'll

I forgot to add this piece I did a few months back! The request was for the phrase"Hey Ya'll" to be included along with anything Texas themed, so I came up with this bluebonnet watercolor piece!

Made With Love

One look at my craft room and you'd think a robber had just rummaged through every drawer and box...but nope, it's just a normal sign that I was in there. I'm a VERY messy maker….but I usually emerge from the mess with some pretty things! Take these greeting cards I've been making for example, all made with love and a heap of mess to clean. I love mixing and matching paper to make bright and beautiful cards that are a small piece of art. I think they would all look awesome framed and hung to admire!…

The cards are made with a heavy watercolor paper and each detail is hand drawn then cut by me! Some of the cards have watercolor elements to them. I'm starting to love using mixed media! Thanks for taking a look! These will be sold at a local shop which my husband's family owns, The Karat Patch!

This card might be my all time favorite. Inspired by the ever famous, Geronimo Balloons, I used watercolors, a variety of papers including: watercolor, glittered, and Lokta paper.

Snail Mail - Swap Bot Letter Exchange

Mail. The good kind. The kind that is packaged pretty with the beautiful stationery or card and handwritten thoughts! Swoon! I've been making handmade cards for quite awhile....make that 6 years! its kind of my thing! I started my little card making journey in my college dorm room at UNT (The University of North Texas) and sold them at the local flower shop I used to work at, FlowerGarden, for $5 a pop!  They've come a long way!.... but I love to send some of my cards out when I participate in a swap...along with hand lettering and that oh so famous washi tape. This is one of the most recent package I sent out that included handmade envelopes, my handmade ice cream card, and a postcard from Marfa, TX that didn't make it into the picture since it didn't match the color scheme I had going on! HA!

Birthday Banner

The beauty of Instagram is that my work is gaining notice and I'm gaining followers, and for that I am so thankful and grateful. I guess you could say I've been "commissioned" to create a lot of things for people. I'm almost scared to use that word because it seems to belong to famous and widely recognized artists!...and I'm slowly beginning to recognize myself as an artist. But I absolutely love when someone asks me to make something for them, especially when they trust me to take the creative wheel and do my own thing! Thank you to all who support me. I don't think I can show you how happy you make my heart. :) Here is the latest creation I had the honor of making for a little girl's first birthday photoshoot. I'm my own photographer with the best camera I can afford so please don't judge my pictures too harshly. :)

Recently...

I think I just committed a sin in the blogosphere by posting Halloween related cards AFTER Halloween! Sorry! Life has been hectic on my side! Well, here are a few Halloween goodies that were sent out with lots of care. The cards and garland are all handmade along with the card decor. Thank you for looking!

Cupid Approved

I'm back on the blog scene! Holla if ya hear me! It's been a long while....I got pretty busy with a few things, like getting.... MARRIED! :) And to be honest I got a little discouraged and unhappy with my blog because it didn't live up to the hype and "look" of other well-known, awesome blogs....but I've put that aside, because I'm not an expert at this and the funds aren't available to revamp my blog yet! So, I'm just going to work my hardest on this thing and pour every creative idea I have into this.

I'm also back on the creating scene! For Valentine's Day I got busy making a mess on our bedroom floor and creating cards for some friends.  As always, all hand cut, hand drawn and handmade with care. Enjoy!

P.S. I'm planning on getting my Etsy store back up and running too...stay tuned, please!

Brown Paper Packages!

I started to tackle my gift wrapping....I like to get crafty with it and make the package extra special! I think you may agree that tearing into a present is a hella ton more exciting than pulling tissue paper out of a used bag! Agree!?

For the wrapping paper I used the packaging paper that came with one of the gifts in the mail....I also used stamps, a vintage piece of lace, twine, and my trusty heat embosser!
Simple and sweet, just the way I like it!...Get your creative minds in gear and give a specially wrapped package this Christmas...just say no to boring bags!
