Floral Halos

Spring has officially sprung, and it's about time! To welcome in the season, I've created a collage of beautiful floral halos. This spring, even if you aren't going to San Francisco, you should definitely wear flowers in your hair!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

The blustery West Texas winds and lack of rain have me longing for a spot in the great outdoors surrounded by a beautiful, green, and lush garden!...... I have found some unique planters to share with you and perhaps bring out the gardener in you.

1. Recycled Glass Bottle Planters from Etsy: These handmade planters are simple, transparent, modern, and eco-friendly!

2. This Retro Bullet planter: Full of style, comes in an array of colors, and made of molded fiberglass

3. Wallter Planters: Wall mounted modern planters perfect for small succulents or hanging plants and helps keep plants away from pets!

4. Bicycle Planter: How darling is this!? This bicycle would be the perfect touch to a garden, holding four plants, plus the metal would weather beautifully!

6. Tatami Steel Planter - Texas made....that's all I need to say! These sleek and simple planters are hand crafted by Sarabi Studio in Austin, TX. This steel work of art would pair well with the natural landscapes and native plants of Texas!

National Bike Month.....Ride On!

May is National Bike Month! I realize I am a week late to learn of this but like the saying goes, "better late than never!" So, in honor of National Bike Month I would like to showcase my guy's cool, handsome bike along with my own turquoise cruiser!

Introducing the handsome bicycle Zac recently finished and built all by himself, (cue round of applause!)......complete with a Brooks leather saddle and a wooden Maple handlebar, cut and varnished by hand!!

I adore bicycles..... I used to spend all my childhood days and summers on my bike, when I was a fearless speed demon. There wasn't a hill I couldn't conquer!....Well, maybe there was one that conquered me....and gave me a black eye....(true story) Hahaha!! Rest assured, I now approach bike riding with a bit more caution and with a little more style! I introduce you to my classic, 1958 MF Roadmaster Skyrider Coaster! Complete with a bell and a headlight.....courtesy of my cousin, who gave to me for FREE!! Thank you Greg!

So, I hope you get inspired to get out and take a trip back to your younger days, take a cruise, and let the wind blow through your hair.....you won't regret it!!

Cascarones!

Cascarones aka confetti eggs have been a festive Easter tradition in our family ever since I can remember. These confetti filled eggs are a hit with everyone! What you do is sneak up on an unsuspecting person and break the egg over their head so that the confetti spills all over them! Having a cascarone broken over your head is said to bring good luck.......so bring on the luck!!

To make cascarones:
1. Gently tap a small hole on the top
2. Empty the egg yolk into a bowl or sink
3. Rinse out the inside of the egg thoroughly
4. Let dry
5. Decorate the egg with markers, dye, paper, glitter..... the possibilities are endless!
6. Fill with confetti
7. Cover the hole with a circular piece of tissue paper and glue in place

Our family loves making them colorful and beautifully decorated! I decorated these to share with you.

Easter Goodness

I can't believe Easter is almost here and April is coming to a close! As a little girl, I remember waking up Easter morning to a basket filled with all sorts of  goodies that the Easter Bunny would leave in my room :) Now I'm all grown up...... even though I must admit I'll always be a kid at heart. I leave you with this Handmade Wish I drew and painted with Gouache and accented with a black Micron marker.

Simply Spring Wreath

Those who know me know how much I love crafting and creating! A couple of days ago I created this simple little wreath using a metal wreath form, Spanish moss, and folded paper flowers. I think it would be a cute welcome to visitors just in time for Easter!........Here are some instructions on how to make the folded floral bursts!! Now go on and craft away!  :)  Oh, and I edited the instructions a bit from the original source down below!

Make accordion paper flowers:

  • Take two sheets of square scrap-booking paper, and fold each one accordion style in 1″ sections.
  • Fold each one in half.
  • Staple or hot glue each one together on one side to form a half-circle.
  • Then staple or hot glue the two halves together!
